How We Decolonise Governance

Governance systems shape how power flows, who gets heard, what knowledge counts, and whose needs are prioritised. Across every layer of governance, unconscious bias, cultural assumptions, and colonial legacies continue to distort efforts toward gender equality.

At Pomegranate House, we identify and address governance gaps that undermine gender-just outcomes. Our analysis spans multiple levels:

  • Global Governance

  • Regional Governance

  • National Governance

  • Corporate Governance

  • Local & Municipal Governance

  • Technological Governance

Each tier brings its own cultural assumptions, often rooted in dominant worldviews that can invisibly reinforce inequality. Through intersectional and context-specific analysis, we surface where governance systems are misaligned with inclusive, gender-transformative practices.

Rather than impose universal models, we work with institutions to:

  • Recognise their contextual governance blind spots

  • Understand how power, identity, and data interact in their systems

  • Design culturally-attuned, inclusive frameworks rooted in equity

Whether you’re a multilateral body, private-sector actor, or local council, we can help ensure your governance systems move beyond performative inclusion, and toward sustainable, inclusive, and equity-driven governance.

Get in touch to learn how we can help identify and address your institutions gaps of governance.
